Where’s the Volume?

As I type, I am sitting on the deck of a cottage over looking Lake Superior. Listening to the waves gently crash against the rocky shore below me, I am hard pressed to look at any charts. I don’t know of many places with more natural beauty than Minnesota’s Northern Shore. Maybe Yosemite, which I’ve been to at least 20 times and know better than the back of my hand.

TrinaSolar + SMH + Sox + Cisco + Intel…..

Hmm, actually nothing much has happened for TSL since my original entry and same story goes for SOLF. Even TSL is trading 1,5 $ lower now, it´s just channelling or perhaps rectangle would be better technical name for bigger picture. I think I bought wave C of 3 bottoming and this upside rally was only wave 4. Personally I don´t quite get why market has decided to stay and trade so mad volalitet with these allmost daily basis - well, certainly market has difficulties to estimate future EPS is usually basic reason for unreal high STD. I was planning to give this away with 27 $ stoploss, but after checked last 2 weeks behaviour I am going to keep it, it looks for me very much as bottom building, so I decided to set my stoploss levels lower, let´s see now if coming week would bring some more information is this makes sense to hold. The very last pattern is certainly bearish HS, but it should be pretty fully completed allready….

My View on Technical Trading and 3C

The Problem With Fundamental Analysis Fundamental Analysis seeks to identify value through assessment of everything about a company that can’t be found on a chart and doesn’t have to do with what happens on the floor of an exchange or over the NASDAQ network. The problem is, do you trust that the information that you use is correct? Think Enron, this was no boiler-room operation. Do you think the information is timely enough to provide you an edge? Can you analyze the information and uncover something that multitudes of multi-million dollar research departments are searching for? Are you a PhD in economics and accounting? Do you have the benefit of playing golf with the company’s CEO or having lunch with the CFO or having your son-in-law working in the accounting department? Money Flow: Fewer Sellers, But Still No Influx of Buyers

In my last post, we saw evidence of resilience in the price behavior of smaller cap stocks. I suggested that such resilience can be part of a longer-term bottoming process. Another part of bottoming is seeing an increase in the funds being put to work in the stock market. That is the function of the money flow indicator, which tracks the dollar volume entering or exiting stocks on a daily basis. It does this by tracking every single market transaction in every stock, adding the dollar volume (price times volume) to a cumulative total if the transaction occurs on an uptick and subtracting it from the total if the transaction occurs on a downtick….
