Profitable Brands Need Right Management Perspective

Brand management is a dynamic and a continuous process that needs consistent investment of time and money. The boardroom must ensure that brand management is allocated a specific budget as it is much more than mere marketing communications. Due to the intangible nature of branding, the results may not accrue in a short period of time a it takes time and reinforcement to build customer loyalty. Many companies increasingly complain that financial markets focus on short-term results and give little credit for long-term value creation strategies. These claims are contradicted by empirical evidence….

Obama vs. McCain: Paid vs. Organic Search

If there’s one thing that’s changed the landscape of the 2008 elections, it’s the use of the Internet. I was speaking to a local Republican leader here in Indiana a couple weeks ago and he fully admitted that the party needed to do some catching up.
SpyFu is a fantastic service for researching search engine statistics, both paid and organic. This week they launched SpyFu Kombat….

Facebook Headed for Financial Ruin?

TechCrunch today has no treats—and no joy, no, not even Almond Joy—for Facebook in reporting about its projected financial woes. For a company once valued at $15 billion, things are looking grim as the cash supplies may dwindle long before Facebook is ready or willing to go to IPO.

Media Company’s Online Video Attempts

Minnesota’s local media sites, including TV, Newspapers, and Radio, are experimenting with video on the web based on the rationale that advertisers will pay a premium for video ads. A fair assumption.

However, one of the biggest problems I see with the online video offerings of media companies today is that they are being held back by their video content management systems, which tend to be much less feature rich that freely available alternatives.

Coney Island has experienced a decline in recent years, owing to rising costs of real estate, mismanaged development proposals and a general economic downturn.  But despite all of these setbacks, the core aspects of the “world’s playground” remain intact.  Recognizing this, a new initiative spearheaded by the M…

Jules the Robot is Scarily Realistic

Just in time for Halloween, Gizmodo has posted what may be the creepiest thing you’ll see all day. A team at The University of Bristol, UK, have created a very realistic looking robot head capable of complex facial expressions. Jules is the robot’s name, and 34 servos can mimic human expressions real-time. Prepare to be freaked out, because we’re leaving the uncanny valley in the dust.

When Obama Visited My College…

Two weeks ago on a Monday morning, John McCain’s camp released a statement that he would be in town. My college is the largest university in Missouri - which is quite the swing state - so it was no surprise that he would come by for a campaign stop. I was anticipating a huge deal, but there was only a small amount of media buzz, and when his plane landed, he was greeted by a crowd of 20, and he continued on to an invite-only lunch at a BBQ restaurant, completely sidestepping the campus and vibrant downtown.
