TechCrunch today has no treats—and no joy, no, not even Almond Joy—for Facebook in reporting about its projected financial woes. For a company once valued at $15 billion, things are looking grim as the cash supplies may dwindle long before Facebook is ready or willing to go to IPO.

Just in time for Halloween, Gizmodo has posted what may be the creepiest thing you’ll see all day. A team at The University of Bristol, UK, have created a very realistic looking robot head capable of complex facial expressions. Jules is the robot’s name, and 34 servos can mimic human expressions real-time. Prepare to be freaked out, because we’re leaving the uncanny valley in the dust.

Go figure.
But there is an amazing selection of free or low cost applications out there that can help us create things better and faster. It’s just a matter of finding them.
