I’m posting a little different today, and would love your video responses to this question from Shel Israel. Is social media becomign a vast wasteland?
I don’t believe so - I think it’s becoming more finite and organized. What’s your opinion? If you have S…

Hi gang,
Alas, there is a part 3.
Having not been able to rent a car, I could not take up the Air Trans offer of 2 free tickets per 1 seat for my Atlanta to Charlotte flight. A bummer for sure, but hey, the downside is I got to be home in 45 minutes.
It had been a 3 hour layover in Atlanta, and I was more than anxious to get on that plane and…go back to sleep. I’d been up since 4:45 am after all. So they start calling out the zones for boarding, I sprint on to the plane, take my seat, pull out the sunglasses, pop out the iphone, fire up James Taylors “New Moon Shine”, and almost immediately fall into a deep sleep.

I started to feel it in late 2006. An inchoate sensation in my knees that gradually moved up my spine as the weeks progressed until it finally started to influence my thought processes.
Looking back on my actions it is clear that my behaviour patterns had begun to radically change long before I actually realised anything was different.
My growing interest in plants and sudden attraction to gardening implements should have tipped me off. Then there were the protracted conversations with colleagues about superannuation and pension plans that were genuinely exciting.

For the last couple of days I’ve been pinging back and forth with my book editor over at Penguin, Jeffrey Krames. We’re about to work through the final draft.
From what I’ve been told, the hardback version of “How To Be Creative” is coming out around Valentine’s day, 2009, give or take a few weeks.

Analysts expectations were low and, depending on the analyst, Yahoo barely met or missed them. According to the press release, “Revenues were $1,798 million for the second quarter of 2008, a 6 percent increase compared to $1,698 million for the same period of 2007.” Net income fell 18 percent. The company suffered from the general sluggishness of the advertising economy but may also have taken a hit from all the distractions of Microsoft and Carl Icahn’s proxy battle. Icahn is now becoming a board member after a p…

A set of billboards in four European cities measure the local area’s noise pollution level and display it live for passerby’s to see. It’s an advertisement for AEG-Electrolux’s quiet running washing machines, but also a simple public service. Quantifying an abstract figure such as noise pollution could help people become more aware of the problem. Besides getting immediate feedback on noise pollution, the data is sent to a website where you can compare noise levels from city to city.

Oh my goodness, it’s . . . you know.
At OMMA Behavioral yesterday, Ignited’s David Martin struck upon the perfect slogan for the behavioral advertising industry, and I quote: “It’s Only Going To Get Creepier.” Excellent. Government regulatory agencies, consumers and advertising clients alike flock to behavioral.

From an article in Entrepreneur…neat reminder on “knowing your audience” and focusing well.
It’s called The Trunk Club. It’s a great example of how market, identity, and focus come together to build new businesses that combine new ideas with old-fashioned serving the customer. It’s also a personal favorite because it’s the brainchild of one of my former students.

Hi gang,
(When we last left our travel Hero, he was happily blogging from a Seattle pier, looking out at the bay and enjoying himself. Did he make it home? Let’s rejoin him….)
“Waiter, I’d like a tequila sunrise please.”
“Sure thing - can I see your ID ?”
Blank stare.
“You see, what happened was….” I told the poor bartender the entire story. He got a good chuckle out of it, and handed the drink over.

If you are an experienced link builder, you might be tempted to read something other than today’s column, which on first glance may appear a bit to rudimentary for your skills. If you do stick around, and I hope you do, I’ll share with you what I consider to be one of the tragic mistakes that even sophisticated link builders often make when contacting a site to request a review/link: Using the wrong contact method.
