David Ogilvy: The Creativity Mandate

“I am supposed to be the No. 1 creative genius in the whole world, and I don’t even know what the hell the word ‘creativity’ means. But I’m not afraid to tell creative phonies that their commercials are utter nonsense. When I write an ad, I don’t want you to tell me that you find it ‘creative.’ I want you to find it so persuasive that you buy the product — or buy it more often.

If you spend your advertising budget entertaining the consumer, you’re a bloody fool, housewives don’t buy a new detergent because the manufacturer told a joke on television last night. They buy the new detergent because it promises a benefit.”

Should Bloggers Correct their Mistakes?

There’s a great discussion on Cranky Geeks that rolled over to TWIT this week that’s near and dear to me with my respect for journalists. Bloggers are not journalists in the traditional sense of the word but we are journalists when viewed from a consumer viewpoint.

iPhone Applications for Bloggers

I know quite a few ProBlogger readers are enjoying the iPhone App store - so I thought I’d ask the question:
What iPhone Applications are most useful for bloggers?
In addition to that - what iPhone apps would you like to see developed for bloggers?

Step #3 - Start Your Franchise Analysis

So let’s review for a minute. By now, you’ve:

Started discussions with your family and decided that you might be interested in owning your own business,??and
Accumulated a nice list of opportunities to consider.

Now we’re on Step #3. The analysis phase. I recommend starting with an Excel spreadsheet, each franchise disclosure document (FDD) and an old-fashioned pen and paper. Your spreadsheet should include the following columns (and maybe more):

The Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge Method, Or, Blogging Is Flirting

Oh blogger, are you a flirt? You should be. Sara Ost from EcoSalon explains more.
Successful blogging takes epic diligence. As a blog grows and brings in new readers, we all want to maintain what we’ve already built. No easy task! This sort of strategy calls for an effective tactic. And that tactic, my friends, is flirting. Though we can call it anything, My Super Official Blog Maintenance & Growth Tactic is pretty lame, so I prefer the operation name Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge.

Service Strategy - What Is The New Gold Standard? Michelli Has Some Of The Answers. Lessons From Ritz-Carlton.

by: Idris MooteeI don’t remember when the word “service economy” first showing up five or ten years back. What is “service economy”? In economic terms, services are a diverse group of economic activities that include high technology, knowledge-intensive sub-sectors, as well as labor-intensive, low skill areas.
