Resumé in Sweden (which is either adage or adweek, take your pick) has decided to start a ‘community’ and force people to stand for their comments (as users). I get that, they’re sick of “anonymous”. Hell, that’s why I only allow comments here from anyone who signs up - you could be “jacktheripper” both here and at Resumé and your comments will always be yours, yaknow?
But then they did the extra-weird thing and allowed signed-in-users to be anonymous. Ah, okaaay…. Wait, you didn’t want anon comments, right? Wait a second…. Wasn’t that the problem?

[”Birth And Death”. 2008. Pencil on paper. Approx 22×30 inches. Click on image to enlarge etc.]
I just whipped out this drawing earlier this evening. It took me about as long as it takes me to draw one of my typical “back of business cards” format. Just this time I’m using [A] a much larger piece of paper and [B] a very large carpenter’s pencil. Living out in the desert has made want to loosen up a bit. We’ll see where this goes etc.

It’s getting really painful to write about the Truth campaign. It’s become so horrifically bad, it makes one want to digitize one’s hand, shove it deep inside the internets until it finds the neck of the entity that created this horror show, squeeze really really hard and put the entity out of its misery….

The US Senate is holding a series of hearings on online advertising, behavioral targeting and privacy to determine whether they should consider legislation protecting consumers online in these areas.
The Senate has turned to Google, Microsoft, the FTC, Facebook, privacy watchdogs and others for their opinions in the matter. Some, like Google, welcomed a “comprehensive privacy law that would establish a uniform framework for privacy and procedures to punish bad actors.”

Adobe recently announced their final release of the Acrobat Pro 9 software line, touting new video capabilities that are meant to provide a wider range of interactive publishing capabilities, along with improved engagement methods for end users. What’s unmentioned in Adobe’s press releases on the Acrobat 9 series is that there are some special benefits for search engine marketers. Acrobat 9 may be the first all-inclusive software program that can implement, distribute and event optimize video for search results, into a user-friendly and inclusive software platform. That’s a big plus for most search optimizers who are looking to take advantage of the video space, but lack video post-production technical skills.

I always like to see what types of link building things that people talk about and/or present. Based on some basic tips provided by Roger Montti in the “Blow Your Mind Link Building Techniques” session at SMX Advanced, this post will expand upon those to describe a specific link building plan that nearly any site can use.
Here is my expanded version of Roger’s tips on how to extract which .EDU sites link to a competitor of yours (or to an important company in your space). These commands work on either Yahoo or Microsoft Live Search, but not Google at this point:

Unto this Last is a unique store and furniture workshop in London. Besides being a showroom for their premade work, they can manufacture custom pieces within a week at mass production prices. A computer controlled fabricator will cut out the needed shapes and it’s all assembled on the spot. The whole process is on view for customers to see, and apparently it’s quite enthralling.

I’ve become a big fan of Google Spreadsheets over the past few months for a number of reasons. The primary being the ability to collaboratively work on a single spreadsheet simultaneously from more than one location. That’s a powerful feature that’s particularly valuable in data gathering situations.
But it has a few limitations that are worth noting as of this writing. Over time, I see no reason why they won’t get worked out, but they could be deal killers for you today depending on how you use spreadsheets.
