The British Airways pilot sounded calm, but he urgently needed a decision. Shortly after taking off from LAX one of the four engines on his Boeing 747, had exploded. With 5000 miles to fly and 351 passengers on board, should he return to Los Angeles or continue the flight to Heathrow?
Senior BA managers on the ground faced a crossroads. If they considered BA’s brand values, the direction was clear: the airline that defined itself as ‘reliable’ and ‘reassuring’ would obviously advise the pilot to turn the plane around and head back to LA. If you’re reading this, it’s probably Friday. And that’s always a reason to celebrate!
A little perspective on mobile marketing from executives: they told Reuters that Mobile ads are years away from breakthrough. Be a bit reassured—these were advertising and telecom execs, not the ones who would be authorizing payment on mobile campaigns. though I’m not sure that’s a good thing.

I Stuffed up!
Earlier today I sent out my weekly Digital Photography newsletter to not only the 40,000 subscribers who asked to receive it but also to several thousand ProBlogger readers who had subscribed to an old ProBlogger newsletter that I used to run (and which I’m about to start back up).
Here’s what happened:
I previously ran a weekly ProBlogger newsletter using the Zookoda service. However late last year I h…

I was interviewed by Twitter today because I’m a devoted business and personal user of the service. Julie Haddon, who’s been Twitter’s director of Marketing & Business Development since March, contacted me over the weekend, emailing: “We’re excited to tell you about a new Marketing campaign were working on over at Twitter and we want you to be a part of it!
Next week, we’re going to be filming and interviewing some of our Twitter fans for a small compilation trailer reel that we’ll be showcasing on our site (potentially other places on the web, conferences, etc.)…And we’d like you to include you.”…

I was just reading Weird Asia News and noticed that they are having a design contest. If you are a designer and are looking to win a PS3 I highly recommend checking it out. The contest seems like a fun thing to do and it would be interesting to see what type of designs people come up with do to the theme of the website.

The response to the Twitter writing contest has been phenomenal. It’s looks like we’ve got well over 300 story submissions at exactly140 characters with just about 24 hours to go.
Beyond the submissions, we’ve also gotten a great response from people offering additional prizes. In fact, the top prize is actually much better than originally offered.

by: John CaddellI recently related a story for the Mistake Bank about my experience as a senior leader with a medium-sized IT company. It involved a particularly difficult senior team meeting and my nasty reaction to a colleague’s questioning a decision I’d made regarding a member of my team. I recalled the story because I was reading "S…

by: Roger Dooley Regular cruise ship passengers almost always say that cruising is the least painful way to travel. Once you are on the ship, there’s no packing or unpacking as you visit new destinations, and you are pampered 24/7. Your cabin is straightened and cleaned several times per day, and an endless cornucopia of food is available. Passengers can see live entertainment, attend lectures, play games, or do nothing at all if they so choose. For many, that’s a painless way to spend one’s travel time.
