Geothermal guerrilla marketing

EnBw wanted to make people aware of their geothermal power station in Baden-Württemberg and decided to use a bit of guerrilla marketing for that. By adding a large white sticker to 2 silverish metal posts they really look like monster sized German power plugs, and the slogan “Energy that doesn’t disappear. Geothermal Heat.”…

‘Sabrina’ Wasn’t The Only Teenage Witch

Sabrina the teenage witchI’ve been digging into my own teen past a lot this week I know, but when I found this article about teen pagans on MTV.com, I couldn’t resist. Yes, that same year I went “into the wild” or moved to Eugene, OR, and told my dad I was taking time off, I also told my mom (who is a “Messianic Jew,” i.e. born again Christian) that I had become a Wiccan. I joined a coven, addressed diary entries to the Goddess and participated in a few rituals. I think my own built in cynicism about religion in general kept me from completely embracing paganism, but I definitely dabbled. And you know what? Despite how stereotypically Pagans or Wiccans are often portrayed, I found it to be a welcoming feminist spirituality that emphasizes a connection with nature and the philosophy of karma.

To Lifestream or Not To Lifestream…

Lifestreaming

Like many of you—I’m overwhelmed with information, data, status updates etc.  Yet also like many of you—I still want ways to keep up with my trusted sources of information, and friends.  Just because it feels overwhelming, I don’t necessarily want to go back to the  "way things were".

Who Else is Going to SOBCon 2008?

SOBcon 2008
I’m heading to San Francisco next week to speak at the sold-out Elite Retreat, but I’ll be speaking at least one more time this year… at SOBCon 2008 in Chicago, May 2-4. I met SOBCon founder Liz Strauss at SXSW, and I’m really excited about how this event is shaping up.

Never Price Yourself Too Low

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in the past was pricing myself and my services too low. Whether that was for a consulting or speaking gig, I’ve always found that I get more gigs when I price higher. The video below talks all about my experiences in pricing myself and my services.

Just remember that perception equals reality. When you send in low prices, the perception is that “he/she might not be worth it” or, “they’re prices are low, so what I’m going to get in return is going to be junk/cheap.” That’s bad for you. Never, ever, price yourself too low!…

Supplementing AdSense with affiliate ads

AdSense Optimization Boot Camp Tip #10
It doesn’t cease to amaze me how many publishers are so concerned about their AdSense revenue - especially when it is the most significant portion, if not all, of their income - that they don’t dare use anything else on the page in case “Google gets mad”.  Well, fortunately for publishers, […]…

Your Mind’s Civil Rights

by: Roger DooleyWIRED ran an interesting piece that suggests increasingly invasive brain technologies will become a legal battleground. The more obvious areas have already been discussed here and elsewhere: using brain scans as lie detectors or to see if an individual recognizes someone or something (as part of a legal investigation, perhaps). That could be just the beginning, though.
