ProBlogger Switches to Guest Blogger Mode

Just a quick update on the guest post situation here on ProBlogger. A couple of days ago on the spur of the moment I invited readers to submit a post for next week (and a couple of weeks in March). Within 22 hours of posting that I had just under 100 people say that they want to participate. I closed submissions off at that point (it was getting too big to handle).

Does Your Business Strategy Have A Purpose?

by: Idris MooteeThe following is one of my first few posts on this blog back in July
last year, I thought it is worth sharing with you again here. The
conversation started when a friend of mine called me and wanted to talk
about his new venture idea. I am happy for him. No question that it is
a big decision to give up your job and go after your dream. The
question came up was “why”, is it about money or is it about something
else?

one company, ten brands: lessons from retail for tech companies

by: danah boydLots
of folks are unaware that multiple brands are owned by the same company
(e.g., the same company owns Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy). Consumer
activists often complain that this practice is deceptive because it
tricks consumers into believing that there are big distinctions between
brands when, often, the differences are minimal. Personally, while I’d
love to see more consumer brand awareness, but I think that brand
distinctions play an important role. I just wish that the tech industry
would figure this out. …

Alan’s Angle – Is Yahoo! Entertaining You?

By Alan Johnson
I’ll be the first one to admit that things have definitely been interesting the last couple of weeks, with Yahoo! obviously in the spotlight: Microsoft’s bid, Yahoo’s letter to their shareholders, all of the merger scenarios and Microsoft’s unwillingness to raise their bid.
If I were to describe these events using just one word, it would have to be “entertaining”. Aside from the way things have unfolded, I personally find people’s reaction to be even more entertaining. Under such circumstances, it’s refreshing to observe how Google haters are trying to make this seem like the beginning of the end for them, how they live in denial and think that somehow, a competitor will put an end to their reign and make the Web a better place.

TeachingSells offers a $1 Sneak Peek

teachingsells.pngOne of my favorite resources for teaching people how to make money from building online communities is TeachingSells.
Produced by Brian Clark of CopyBlogger fame this course has so much amazing information packed into it that it is difficult to digest it all. Actually when I say it’s a ‘course’ I should probably describe it as 9 courses (I’ll tell you why below).

Testing SezWho commenting plug-in

SezWhoIf you make comments on this blog you might have noticed a new WordPress plug-in that I’m trying out called SezWho. SezWho is a distributed context, rating and reputation service for blogs, forums, wikis and other social sites.
So, what that means is that when you post a comment or read comments from others, you can also track related comments that person has made on this blog and others. You can also sort all the comments based on reader ratings, rate comments yourself, and focus only on those comments that were rated highly useful.
