Yesterday I wrote about how no one can seem to get IMAP right when it comes to e-mail clients. Today I thought I would list the features I think would make a freaking amazing system. If you have items you would like to add to the list or if you know of a client that does a good chunk of this today, please contribute in the comments!
Cross platform. I don’t use only Windows or only Macintosh. I use Windows, Mac, Linux as well as a Windows Mobile device and an iPhone. The client should run on all of these and be extremely similar yet utilize the core OS navigation/UI design for functions.

Well, not really. But I launched a podcast for a client this month and in the process, have learned more about what can go wrong with a podcast than I ever thought possible.
The good news is, we’ve got no trouble coming up with guests or topics for the podcast. What has been killing me is all sorts of little technical crap. My husband and the designer who coded the blog are both quite technical and I’m no slouch either, but we were all pulling our hair out last week and this over a series of little things that just kept going wrong.

Barack Obama set a record in January by raising the highest amount of any candidate in a primary race. Online advertising may have contributed to his astonishing success. He raised $36.8 million last month compared to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s $19.7 million. Obama beat his staff’s projections of $32 million.
Unfortunately the reports I read don’t break down how the funds came through except to distinguish between individual and corporate donations. However, there is some data about candidate’s focus on raising money through display advertising.

This afternoon, Kevin Johnson, president of Microsoft Platforms & Services Division, issued an email to Microsoft employees (that was released via its PR firm). The letter has a tone of confidence that assumes a deal with Yahoo will ultimately take place. It reiterates what Microsoft believes to be the benefits of that deal and looks beyond regulatory approval to integration issues. It downplays Yahoo resistance, potential culture conflicts between the companies and potential layoffs with an upbeat message about the future.

Over the past ten to twelve years, various SEM practitioners have brought up the need for industry standards. I started asking the question in 1998, and others have brought it up since, but the industry seems to have a laissez faire attitude.
Albeit, we’ve seen some standardization steps taken by the search engines themselves. Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft got together on the Sitemaps protocol,…

A new study from IDC indicates that on average people spend 32.7 hours online a week and only 16.4 hours watching television. Newspapers and magazines get only 3.9 hours of our attention. IDC surveyed 992 Americans aged 15 years and older.
But does this actually mean that the Internet is twice as popular as television? I wouldn’t say that just yet. The total weekly media consumption comes to 70.6 hours in the survey. The press release also doesn’t indicate whether there was simultaneous media consumption.

Screencasting or making a movies by capturing your computer screen is a great way to create tutorial lessons and how to videos. Camtasia, a PC only tool, has ruled the roost for some time in this category leaving Mac users out in the cold a bit. [SnapZPro is a fine program, but lacking in many ways.]

The MacBook Air is one thin computer. That’s the selling point. Apple has done an impressive job associating thinness with coolness since the launch of the laptop.
But could Apple’s “You can’t be too thin.” campaign be extrapolated by young women into apply to things other than computers, such as their own bodies?
