Lots of stories in the news today about the proposed Yahsoft/Microhoo takeover and even some folks pondering if Google is now in real big trouble. My guess is the folks at Google are cheering today. My take is that Microsoft is admitting defeat by trying to buy there way out of it. Yahoo! has been scuffling of late and has never been a better deal, but is putting two companies together that can’t really figure out how to compete with Google going to make one company that can?

That Mac Guy in the Apple ads is pretty confident. He knows the Mac is a superior machine and so he can afford to be nice to the poor PC, who can’t really help being inferior. Afterall, it’s not that he isn’t a nice guy, but it’s just that he’s not Mac.
That’s the basic theme of the Apple spots, featuring the Mac Guy. Here’s a great example of how Apple has positioned the product and personality of their products.

Uh oh, a month ago (not reading my RSS feed often enough!) Toby Bloomberg tagged me for the 8 Secrets Meme Game. you tell 8 things people don’t know about you and then you tag 8 more people to play and then they tag 8 more people and so on and so on … I usually ignore these things, but, hey, it’s Saturday. So here goes:

What have you paid for when it comes to your blogging?
One of the things that I hear a lot of people talk about when speaking about the virtues of blogging is that it has such low overheads and barriers to entry in terms of cost.
In many ways I agree with this - I look at my own experience of blogging and I started out with free blog platforms and hosting and apart from my internet access costs (which I was paying anyway) there were no other expenses for some time.

While Fox would likely never let it run, fearful it would tarnish the minds of innocent small children, with a few tweaks these two commercials for ICS Concrete Chain Saws would be great to see during the game….

It’s getting down to the wire folks. At Adland, home to the world’s largest and most complete Super Bowl Commercial Archive, we’ve been updating our Super Bowl Commercial Spoiler post all week long. In non superbowl ad news, Louis Vuitton temporarily stops duping Yale students into drawing Louis Vuitton ads on the university yard or featuring pictures of Mikhail Gorbachev and other celebs using their luggage in traditional fashion spreads and instead now launch a TV commercial for the first time. The 90-second spot was shot in France, Spain, India and Japan and focuses on travel rather than fashion.

Every once in a while, someone sends me an email saying, “Is this really you?”
Of course, it’s a silly question, since if an admin were secretly responding to my mail, a question like this certainly doesn’t end the subterfuge. You’d need to do something like ask in Navajo or some secret code.
Anyway, I don’t have a staff. It’s just me. (Though having a staff seems to work really well for T…
