There are vast, untapped reserves of oil and natural gas in the Arctic, and if those resources are tapped, it could impact related exchange traded funds (ETFs) down the line.
An estimated 90 billion barrels of oil and one-third of the world’s undiscovered natural gas are beneath the Arctic Circle, which government scientists discovered in the largest-ever survey of the area’s energy resources. The region includes parts of the United States, Russia and Canada, r…

The inverse relationship between oil prices and equity markets still seem intact: as crude has sold off over the past week, markets have lifted, and some analysts have even tried charting an hour-by-hour mapping of the correlation. While we’re long-term bullish on oil (how could anyone not be?), we don’t anticipate an immediate or intense turn around in crude prices. At the same time, while the price of oil could certainly drift a bit lower, we don’t foresee any catalysts that would warrant a dramatic decrease.

Currency exchange traded funds (ETFs) could reflect the news that Mexico’s peso strengthened the most since 2002.
Investors bet against the gap between the U.S. and Mexican benchmark lending rates widening and signaled attention toward the nation’s fixed-income securities.
The peso rose for the third day in a row, increasing 0.9% to 10.0365 per dollar yesterday, from 10.1284, previously. This gain was the biggest among the six most traded currencies in Latin America. Will the C…

After my Freeport McMoran (FCX) July 105 naked put expired last week and assigned me 100 shares I sold those 100 shares when FCX rallied. The next day FCX dropped $8+. I thought my limit was going to hit for the September 95 naked puts, but I priced it too high. This morning I changed my order for a lower strike. While FCX was trading near $98.00 my order hit and I sold one FCX September 85 naked put (FCXUQ) and received $329.25 …

Yesterday I was stopped out of VLO, and I reduced my positions in WFR, LH, FLIR, RYL ahead of earnings. I also picked up a few contracts in LLL, DKS, and WBD. At the open this morning, it looks like I am not going to have much use for LH, FLIR, or RYL any longer. I also sold WFR at the open, since lately these moves don’t hold….
